Overview of Ideaction Programs

We offer a full range of learning programs to help organizations improve innovation. The programs can be our standard packages or they can be customized to the specific needs of each group in your organization.

Programs can be delivered by our teaching staff who have both training and practical business experience, or we can train your own trainers for in-house delivery.

Our learning philosophy has enabled us to implement innovation successfully in over 50 organizations. Here are some examples of the programs  we offer:

Leading Innovation for Executives (1 or 2 day program)

This program focuses on what leaders must understand to lead and manage an innovative organization. Some of the elements of this program are:

  • How innovation happens and what can prevent it
  • The role of the executive team
  • How to role-model innovation
  • How to manage the risk inherent in change and innovation
  • Planning an innovative organization

Director of Innovation (5 day program)

This program will give a new or experienced Director or Vice President of innovation all the processes and tools they need to succeed. It focuses on the issues of individual, team and organization innovation. It also focuses on the role and positioning of the innovation team within the organization and with the leadership team.

Practical Innovative Thinking (2 day program)

This program teaches innovative thinking skills and basic team innovation skills. Some of the elements of this program are:

  • How innovation happens and what can prevent it
  • Innovative thinking and school thinking
  • The 4-step Ideaction methodology

Innovation Teamwork (3 day program)

This program takes a new or existing team that needs to be quickly performing and innovative and makes it effective as a team and very innovative. It is very effective for cross functional teams who are just coming together. The program is similar to the Practical Innovative thinking program with a stronger emphasis on team exercises.

Managing Innovating Organizations for Managers (3 day program)

This program focuses on what managers must understand to lead and manage an innovative team or department. Some of the elements of this program are:

  • How innovation happens and what can prevent it
  • The role of the manager in innovation
  • Innovative thinking and team innovation
  • How to coach innovative thinking skills
  • How to manage the risk inherent in change and innovation

Facilitating Innovation (3 day program)

This program must be taken after the Innovative Thinking Skills program as it focuses on facilitation and assumes the participants have the necessary knowledge. Some of the elements of this program are:

  • How teams work
  • The differences between innovation meetings and regular meetings
  • How to plan an innovation project
  • What techniques work best for different types of problems
  • Advanced brainstorming

Innovation Fundamentals (from 2 hours to 1/2 day)

This program can be used to quickly teach the principles of innovation to large teams. We usually focus on:

  • How innovation happens
  • The individuals role in innovation
  • How to understand and define a problem clearly
  • Rapid brainstorming

Custom Programs (from half a day to 5 days)

Programs can be customized based on the current level of skills and the issues facing the organization.
